Design of half joint based on Eurocode 2

Half joint is normally used  in precast concrete constructions inter alia in TT-slabs and concrete beams.

The beam has recesses in its ends for connection to column or wall. The purpose of half joints is to make a hidden connection and improve architectural aesthetic by providing higher floor height.

Reinforcement of recessed beams may be designed using strut and tie models according to eurocode 2.

The website provides to structural engineers (professionals and students) in the construction sector free-online web app for design of half joint based on eurocode 2 (swedish standards). It has been tested and verified by experienced civil engineers that the calculation result is accurate. However, despite considerable effort we cannot exclude the possibility that an error exists. The results should therefore always be verified by a qualified engineer.
